Through the Jerusalem Mite program of SMOTJ, the Priory of St. Clair joins Templars worldwide in supporting Christians at risk in the Holy Land and helping keep the road to Jerusalem open to all people.

The Jerusalem Mite is directed to charities in three categories:

  • The Franciscans in the Holy Land
  • The Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East - to support St. George Cathedral and School
  • The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate
  • The Armenian Patriarchate - to maintain many of the Old Quarter sites
  • The International Orthodox Christian Charities

Donations to Support Iraqi Christians at Risk

  • The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME) - to support the work of Canon Andrew White (the "Vicar of Baghdad")

Nursing Scholarships

  • The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has determined there is a critical nursing shortage in the Holy Land, with approximately 476 nurses per 100,000 people
  • Nursing scholarship recipients agree to serve and work one year in the Holy Land for each year of school supported
  • Annual tuition cost is $4,000 in the Holy Land vs. $8,000 to $16,000 in the US
